Didn't Pynchon write Gravity's Rainbow? I read that back in high school and it was a struggle to get through. I need something lighter like Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" - now there's a nice cheery book for you.

I could google it but I'm lazy.........

I just started Keegan's "Second World War" again based on a post I skimmed last week. Made me rummage through the bookcases. Probably will need to start over after FloydFest this week.

yes - Gravity's Rainbow is Pynchon's. And yes, it is a tremendously difficult read. I almost threw the book across the room several times amidst its 800 pages.

However, it is a VERY satisfying accomplishment when you are actually done reading it :)

One of the greatest works of 20th century literature (imho)

did you see the film version of The Road?? I finally saw it and was somewhat disappointed. I know I shouldnt have been - that is a very difficult novel to put to film.

dire , I was thinking about beginning a thread on The Road . Your interest let's me know I'll have at least one reply if I do . The book left me in ' deep ' thought for some time . I can not recall a book that I passed around like that one ( I even got it back , on time , on multiple occasions - that never happens ) .
The movie , well I better start that thread , soon . ;)

I'm really beginning to feel that way about this place. It's deja vu all over again...
